Cricket: The Ashes First Test
England come into this test series on the back of some
disappointing one day results. It would be easy to dismiss England for the Ashes Series
after their second successive one-day hammering by the
Aussies at Lords.
England lost that game by seven wickets– The Aussies
have as a result been cut in the betting from 1/2 to 4/9.
There is no surprise that Australia are tipped to win the
Ashes pretty easily, but I think this series could be much
closer than those previous. Nasser Hussain and then Michael
Vaughan have transformed England into a more than capable
outfit, and with some exciting young players on the horizon
and likley to make their mark in this series, the normal 3-1
or 4-1 thrashing should not materialise this time around.
This series will be much closer - England are capable of
wining more than one test and so the Series correct score
market looks a profitable one – 3-2 Australia (12/1), 2-2 (13/2), and 3-2 England
(16/1).
England are no mugs and the draw 2-2 at odds of 13/2
stand out.
The series kicks off on July 21st, with the Autralia
10/11 to win, England are 10/3 and the draw is 7/4. Fancy a
