Match
Overview : Saturday, 9th November 2002
This
is a tough one to call. Both teams are win a bad run of
form and are struggling in front of goal. Aston Villa
have no fresh injury doubts, while Fulham will welcome
back Argentinian striker Facundo Sava but still have Steed
Malbranque (foot), Louis Saha (hamstring) and Sean Davis
(broken toe) sidelined.
The
majority of Villa points this season has come from their
home form, having won 3 times, drawn once and lost two.
In fact they have a good defensive record at Villa Park,
led by Olaf Mellberg and Gareth Barry, having conceded
only 4 goals at home, which is actually better than league
leaders Liverpool and Arsenal who have conceded 5 and
7 respectively. This is a good pointer as to how good
at the back Villa are. The problem lies in front of goal,
however, with only 6 goals scored at home. Their top scorer
in the league is midfielder Lee Hendrie, who only has
a measly 2 premierships goals to his name.
Recently,
Fulham have been no better. taking only 4 points out of
a possible 15 away from home. Their form in Europe has
been good, beating Dinamo Zagreb 3-0 away. In their last
Premiership away trip thery were hammered by Southampton
4-2. This is a difficult one to call - Both teams are
strong at the back - particularly Villa - and they will
be hard to break down. A fixed odds result is too close
to call, If pushed I would go for a draw. The bet in this
game is to go less than 2.5 goals. This will not be pretty
to watch, and with rain expected, this is not a game I
would pay to see!.

AT SCHOOL
I was someone who sat quietly at the back of my maths class
Pretending not to exist, as equation after equation passed
incomprehensibly before my eyes and, on leaving that godforsaken
institution, I was more than relieved that I’d never have anything
more to do with such a hideous subject. Having spent five years
Pleading in vain with my maths teacher to explain what exactly was
the point in doing algebra, Venn diagrams and trigonometry it wasn’t
until some years later, and an intensifying of my interest in
betting that the penny finally dropped.
The
hideous realisation was, that in order to have any chance of being
success~ as a punter, I’d have to overcome that self induced fear
of maths and numbers So, starting at the beginning, I proceeded to
slowly teach myself the necessary facts
and
figures.
Like
the topics that have
preceded this one, such as betting records, money management and
staking, the mathematics of sports betting is another discipline
that the casual punter will have done
his
best to avoid as he or
she goes about his betting |
