After last week's top-five there is only one this week, Phil Mickelson, but he offers little value as this course is smaller than average, with only two Par 5's, and so the course would better suit a shorter hitter. Mickelson will have no clear advantage here. One player that stands out at the moment is ythe legend that is Jim Furyk. He has had back-to-back seconds in his last two tournaments, and he appeals to me at some nice odds of 12/1.
Recent history is also on his side, with four top-tens in nine visits. Furyk should be there or thereabouts. Another player due a win is Texan Justin Leonard, a Dallas native, who consistantly plays well in this tournament.
Leonard has yet to miss the cut in 10 starts, including five top-10 finishes and he came second here in 2002. He is coming back to form aftera recent paternity break - he could only manage a modest 58th in the Byron Nelson last week. For those looking for big odds the call goes to Bo Van Pelt at a huge tasty 66/1. That price looks very appealing considering his 5th place here last year, one of several high finishes on par 70 courses in his short career.
