Its time to turn our attention to the Buick Championship this week. There is a huge open field in this one. Those looking down the coupon will see that there is no Phil Mickelson, no Vijay Singh, and even the great man Tiger Woods is absent. That means that there is going to be a big priced winner of the tournament. The hard thing is which one to pick!
The last two tournaments have seen two huge outsiders claim the title, at odds of 150/1 and 250/1, and so it is a very difficult tournament to predict from a betting perspective. The favourite here is Kenny Perry, who has already won twice this year, and has some decent course form, however his confidence may be a little low after he capitulated last week in the final round of the World Series.
One man that stands out is Dutchman Bo Van Pelt, who is in good form at the moment and is performing consistently. His recent form includes a tie for 17th in the PGA Championship. He has given himself some time out for this event, and at a huge price of 33/1, he looks a decent pick out of the players lower down the coupon. Each way may be the value here with Van Pelt. Another player who will be looking to bolster his credentials to stay in the top 125 is Craig Barlow. He is a great performer here, with ties ties for 8th and 15th twice in his last three starts, so at 40/1he does look a great value bet.
The winner of the BC Open last month, Jason Bohn, can also be backed to continue his blistering form into this tournament. Amazingly, he is a huge 31 under in the last four times he has started a tournament. He came joint sixth in this tournament last year, and at 40/1 looks another player who is a great value bet for punters. He should go close this week.
