The main betting involvement at this weeks Canadian Open is the big name of Vijay Singh, and he heads the market at a short 4/1. However, he was plagued with a bad back last week, and was unable to take part, and so he looks to be one to overlook this time around. There is a relatively weak field, and a 100% fit Singh should blow the rest away. The best way is to see how his back holds, and perhaps back him in running.
If we look for value down the field, keep in mind that this course should benefit the straight hitters, as the golfers need to be tactically aware at this event, rather than relying on power hitting.
At the TPC at Sawgrass, Fred Funk came through, and overcame his traditional nerves, and he is one such golfer who does do well where accuracy hold the key. Funk is a massive 40/1, and he does hold each way claims. Jesper Parnevik is another golfer who seems to like this course, having had three top tens, and at a massive 80/1 he looks like a nice bet to finish in the top five places.
