QUEVEGA has been the main mover this week after
her impressive return to action at Punchestown and
if WHITEOAK heads for the Champion Hurdle, I can see
her with Ruby Walsh on top starting favourite when
the Irish punters start to get stuck in. Even if
Whiteoak runs, on soft ground over 2m 4f, I can see
Quevega having too much stamina for her and there
was an awful lot to like about her comeback as she
quickened well to settle it and some of her jumps
were super fast.
Alan King's OVER SIXTY still may run even though
beaten at long odds-on last week as the owners want
a Festival runner and she is due to retire at the
end of the season.
One mare creeping under the radar is OSCAR REBEL
who won at Fairyhouse and Punchestown last spring so
this is her time of the year and she returned from a
winter break with a decent second to Catch Me in the
Boyne Hurdle last week and is not to be forgotten
about.
DANSIMAR has been in cracking form in
handicaps in the last fortnight and may also take
her chance for Venetia Williams – the owners are
mulling it over.
