COOLDINE and WHAT A FRIEND head the market and
reading between the lines when Nicholls was asked
this direct question on Thursday who will Ruby Walsh
ride, I think he has accepted he would probably ride
Cooldine as he had not ridden What A Friend in a
chase before whereas he had won a Grade 1 chase on
Willie Mullins' novice. TRAFFORD LAD returned with
mucus on his lungs after Leopardstown so that run
can be forgiven but his connections still have
reservations about coming over.
JONCOL was trimmed after winning a Grade 2 at Naas
but he is only six which is bad news with just two
winners since 1978 and he is 17 hands high so is
still a big baby, if he does come over I can see it
all proving too much for him. KICKS FOR FREE was
being aimed at this race but I cannot see it any
more after finishing last of three at Fontwell when
long odds-on at the weekend.
Danger: What A Friend. Possibly a veiled
dig at JP Magnier and Co., Alex Ferguson has turned
his hand to the jumps with Paul Nicholls and with
the season he’s had on the pitch, he could be
celebrating again in the Cotswolds.
