Coca-Cola League Two
starts Sa Aug 7
Goalie, never convinced by Wright, he seems to repel the ball like similar magnetic poles, the repelled ball invariably falling to opposition forwards.
Defence, cover required, especially if Weir moves on.
Pistone, well what can I say, I reckon there's an unsigned contract out for Moysey's head, it remains unsigned as long as Alesandro plays ? I can offer no other explanation.
Midfield, someone like Scott Parker would be ideal, Arteta needs to be confirmed
Forwards, Will have to hope Beattie comes good, again some more cover required, Simon Davies as an attacking
Midfielder has to be good news.
Arteta will sign this week, as for the others, Moyes like the look of Sidwell from Reading, but they want #4M. i think Moyes will look to the old targets from the last 8 months, Keane, MacCarthy, Traore, Parker (chelsea would only consider a loan deal apparently). I've heard the transfer budget is just #15M.
Can't see Big Dunc going too far but talk of Naysmith & Weir to Leeds had a ring of truth to it. As you say we don't really need anyone to go. Naysmith I quite like, definitely ok as a squad player, wouldn't have minded seeing him given a decent run with Kilbane instead of Alesandro.
What do you reckon to Pistone Naf, he's been a bit better this season, even a couple ogf good games but overall I just don't think he's good enough.
Big fan of Scott Parker..had he been previously been at a bigger club than Charlton prior to his injury problems at Chelsea he would be spoken in the same terms as players like Scholes (at his peak) Lampard and some other chap accross the park...and Tim Cahill...great passer, tackles, energetic and score goals.
Arteta has looked very decent most of the time and come next season will probably be fitter. Will be the top rated Spanish footballer in England next year and hope he stays.
The left side needs re-inforcing.
Not a fan of Naysmith, Pistone average (although gets too much stick)..Kilbane..started well but only a few good games since Xmas but would be an ideal squad player to cover left midfield and could do a job in central midfield if needed. Wouldnt mind Roberto Carlos if he fancied a year in English football !! he looks committed in every game and doesnt look like a complete mercenary!
Jury out on Beattie..certainly has more to offer than what we've seen so far but down to him to prove it and an extra striker is needed...but who??
Not keane on Robbie (Scores a few great goals but misses too many sitters)
Johnson of Palace is not an original choice but could play up front on his own and Dean Ashton looks like he's played in the Prem for years.
Money dont grow on trees and unrealistic to see 6 or 7 top quality signings as we'd all like but 3 or 4 "names" and maybe a cheapo unexposed central defender from the lower leagues would do.
Would not offer Weir/Stubbs/DF (at least halving his wages) any more than 1 year rolling deals |
