Betting Preview : England v Switzerland
England play Switzerland , England now really needing
to win this game after their loss against France.
Against France, England were confident for the first
half and took the lead, but as usual did not appear
to have the will to win in the second half and did
not know how to defend a lead. England's midfield
barely got out of their own penalty area and they
let France come at them, giving them too much respect.
However, Rooney looked good up front and should
terrorise the Swiss defence in this game.
England were better team in 90 minutes of the match
against France, but after Beckham's missed penalty,
they lost their concentration and with two huge
mistakes of Heskey and Gerard, they lost the match
in just 90 seconds.
This match against Switzerland is a must now, and
they surely posess enough quality to win this time,
and as I think they are also mentaly strong enough
to overcame schock from the first match, they should
take all three points here. Midfielder Paul Scholes
is a major doubt for Englandcoach Sven-Goran Eriksson
revealed.
The 29-year-old Manchester United player twisted
an ankle in the 2-1 loss to France on Sunday evening
and would be unable to train on Tuesday and Wednesday,
Eriksson told a news conference Monday.
"We will see on Wednesday if he can play or
not but he is the only one," he added. "Gary
Neville has some small problems but he will be all
right."
They will also miss Nicky Butt, but they have enough
good midfielders to cover his eventual absence.
England's defence also looked solid, and John Terry
should be back from injury to play here. Given England's
solid defensive performance against France it's
hard to see the Swiss scoring here.
Betting Verdict: This is must win game for England
- Switzerland were poor against Croatia and also
looked shaky in defence, while England should have
beaten the world Champions. go for the England win
