PORTUGAL
Portugal have had a nightmare run up to Euro 2004 and have
failed to win their last seven friendlies against Euro 2004
opponents and their only recent victory was against Kuwait.
With so many world class players, Coach Luis Felipe Scolari's
main problem is how to combine his front-line and, though
he played in the 1-1 draw with Sweden, Fernando Couto has
been suffering with a series of niggling injuries. Form: 3/5
GREECE
After an excellent Euro 2004 qualifying campaign, Greece were
unbeaten in 15 matches but recently they were hammered 4-0 by
Holland. They will hope that the defeat in Eindhoven, which
key defender Mihalis Kapsis missed through injury, was merely
a blip in their preparations. Form: 4/5
SPAIN
With every major football tournament we wait for Spain to finally come together
and win something - This time Spain are unbeaten in eight games
and coach Inaki Saez's only worry is the luxury of having to
worry about which additional players join their established
strikers.
Carles Puyol and Carlos Marchena missed the 1-1 draw with
Italy through injury. Form: 4/5
RUSSIA
Russia sneaked past Wales in the play-offs and have been in
unconvincing form in their warm-ups, losing recently to Norway
3-2.
Goalkeeper Sergei Ovchinnikov suffered an injury scare and
star defender Onopko is struggling to be fit - and coach Georgi
Yartsev must also decide how to balance his midfield. Form:
