FA CUP FIFTH ROUND FREE BETS
16th-17th February 2008.
Well the FA Cup fifth round is upon us and there are some
great fixtures in front of us. The huge game of the day
comes on Saturday as Alex Ferguson' Manchester United try
and put their derby defeat by City behind them as they take
on Premiership leaders Arsenal. The Gunners now have a 5
point lead over the Red Devils in the Premiership and go
into the game in high spirits after they took advantage of
Utd's slip up by beating Blackburn 2-0 at the Emirates.
Utd will be hoping to put those memories behind
them and get one over Arsenal, which could have a big effect
on which side of the country the Premiership trophy actually
ends up. For those wishing to back the home win, Man Utd can
be backed at odds of 6/5, while Arsene Wengers' men are an
attractive looking 12/5.
Elsewhere, its the time for the minnows to stand up and be
counted as Barnsley face a daunting trip to Anfield to face
a Liverpool side in confident mood after securing an
impressive 0-0 draw away at Chelsea. Barnsley are not
exactly setting the Championship alight, and we are
expecting to win comfortably. Value is hard to come by
however, as they are priced as 1/5, while those hoping for a
cup upset might want to get on Barnsley at a whopping 16/1.
League One side Hudderfield Town face a bumper pay day as
they travel to Stamford Bridge to face a buoyant Chelsea
side which welcome back their African Nations Cup stars
Didier Drogba, Michael Essien & Kalou. There is no value on
the home win, however, as Chelsea are a best priced 1/10
while for those hoping for one of the biggest shocks in FA
Cup history can back the League One outfit at a massive
33/1.
The all Championship tie brings Mick McCarthy's
Wolves up against Dave Jones's Cardiff side. Both these
sides are seeking promotion and it is sure to be a tough
encounter at Ninian Park. Cardiff are an attractive looking
11/8 to win this game, which I'm sure will drop as Cardiff
are one of the form teams in the Championship at the moment.
Wolves are stuttering somewhat after a good start and will
be looking for a good cup win to inspire them in the league.
Mick McCarthy's side are a 9/4 shot. Elsewhere, Coventry
who recently sacked manager Ian Dowie are 2/1 to beat
Championship high flyers West Brom, who are 7/5 shots, while
League One Bristol Rovers look an attractive bet at 2/1 to
beat Southampton who are struggling for form in the
Championship.
