French Grand Prix
Su Jul 4 - 13.00 BST
Michael Schumacher once again leads the betting @ 2/7 for
this week's French Grand Prix at Magny-Cours, having won eight
out nine races this season, and there is no reason for opposing
him again this week.
As for the places, both Jarno Trulli and Fernando Alonso,
who will be keen to impress in front of their home Renault
crowd, can go well, but it is Honda driver Takuma Sato who
is fancied to build on last week's first 'Podium Finish' @
12/5.
Austrian Mark Webber is another driver who is likely to go
well after showing a liking for the track in the past two
seasons - sixth and eighth in the last two years. Eddie
Jordan claiming that he was not overly impressed with
Michael when he first saw him rung a small bell in the back
of my mind. I remember a quote of Eddies which took me ages
to find:-
'We thought the cones had been removed at the back of Club
Circuit on which he was running. They hadn't. He really was
that fast'. This was just after his first F1 test.
As regards the rest of the paddock, I can tell you with
certainty that Schuey was very highly regarded when he first
arrived. It was well known in the paddock that a certain
team owner was enquiring as to his contractual status after
the first practice. The qualifying performance started the
contract war.
The now famous 'Welcome to the piranha club' reportedly came
from that contract war.
Apparently it reminds him of the strips back home, and that
marks him out for a possible 'Points Finish' @ 4/1. Betting
