MIXED BLESSING (59)
may have started at 25-1 in the Princess Margaret Stakes but
her success should have come as no surprise to Time Test
followers as she was joint top-rated on my figures. The
winning time of lmll.l9secs knocked a quarter of a second
off the juvenile track record and, whilst she may have
looked more exposed than some coming into this contest, she
certainly has an engine and should continue to hold her own.
Earlier in the week IMPERIAL STRIDE (70) took the Scottish
Derby in fine style at
Ayr.
I highlighted his effort against the clock at the royal
meeting at York and he’s now unbeaten in two subsequent
starts, despite rising in class.
Ayr runner-up POWERSCOURT (67) looked less enthusiastic and
is maybe going the wrong way.
The Mark Tompkins string remain in good form and CONNECT
(68) is worthy of a mention following a cracking effort at
York on Friday.
This was his best performance for some time and,
following a similarly good effort at the same venue the
following day the eight-year-old heads to Goodwood in the
form of his life.
