It would seem logical to put a line through our jaded Ryder Cup heroes when assessing this week's tournament, but a study of previous post-Cup performances suggests it would be foolish to write off their chances. After the last two Ryder Cups four members of the team went on to record victories in their next tournament, while the majority went on to record decent finishes. Padraig Harrington has a particularly good record in the week after the Ryder Cup (1st in 2002, 2nd in 1999), and considering he was in such good form before the Cup it would not be a surprise to see him compete again this week. His Ryder Cup team-mate Ian Poulter could also be worth an interest on 'home turf'. Officially the touring professional for the Dukes course, he will have been encouraged by his performance last week, particularly his fine singles win over Chris Riley. The final selection goes to Graeme McDowell, a sure-fire Ryder Cup player of the future, who has form figures of 16-6-3 over the past three weeks.

Nigel's Three Off The Tee... Padraig Harrington @ 7/1, Ian Poulter @ 25/1, McDowell @ 22/1. Each way ¼ 1-2-3-4-5. Bet the tournament in-play throughout.
