The big sprint at Sandown on Sunday (2.45) can go the way of Lafi, who impressed
greatly on his last outing at Sandown, and he is sure to be top of the betting
markets and a sure favourite.
Since that race, the handicapper has reacted by
putting him up 12lb but, as he's able to run off his old mark here, he has
the look of a handicap good thing.
How far this horse has come can be seen in his Group 1 entry in next month's Nunthorpe,
and his trainer David Nicholls also has him next week in the Steward's Cup at
Goodwood.
For the Steward's Cup Lafi is 5/1, there are doubts as to
whether he is suited to the undulations of that track, and he
may be a doubtful runner.
Besides David Nicholls has another horse primed for this
race. Gift Horse has all the credentials to go well at
Goodwood and is an ideal candidate to win. At 8/1 this does
offer some great value.
Up at York, Danzili Bay looks like a nice little earner
at the 2.55. He impressed at Haydock last time around, and
looked like he could run the course again when he won with
lot to spare last month.
Later on in the 3.25, Yo Pedro can lead follow up his
maiden win at Lingfield in January. The drop back in trip
will suit him on Saturday, and the David Loder horse should
go well.
The main supporting races are the Group Three Princess
Margaret Stakes and the totesport International Handicap,
although the whole card looks very classy.
Jeremy Noseda’s camp have great chance of scoring a success
here, with the duo Albany Stakes winner La Chunga. Lets not
forget the warhorse Salut D’Amour, and these three are
probably the cream in for the Princess Margaret but there
are chunks of untapped potential entered here.
The Newmarket winner Nidhaal is Ed Dunlop’s choice hereand
the Emerald Isle are represented by Oh How Lovely and
Aliceinwonderland.
