After struggling to overcome Wellington this week, the The British Lions have been eased in the betting to 5/2 for their three-Test series against New Zealand, after a far from convincing display on Wednesday (the All Blacks are now 2/7 from 2/5, with the draw at 20/1).

The Lions did win, 23-6 at Westpac Stadium, but they made a number of mistakes and the score is misleading, with Welsh captain Gareth Thomas scoring a try late on to make the score a little more respectable. - but it should have been a far more convincing victory.

They are making some improvements and certainly played better than they did against the Maoris but need to turn their possession into points and finish off some great scoring opportunities, although a swirling wind and a greasy surface may have been to blame.

Their attention now turns to the weekend, with a trip southwards to Dunedin for a Saturday morning encounter with Otago (live in-play betting available).

The first Test due to be played on June 25th.
