Liverpool
come into this derby game on the back of a midweek win against
Vitesse away 1-0, but they are coming off the back of a
dodgy league run, which saw them crash 2-0 to Fulham last
week. Man Utd will be confident coming into this game, with
Ruud Van Nistelrooy superb against Basle,a game in which
they won 3-1.They also destroyed Newcastle in the league
5-3 in the league last week.
Despite
their dodgy recent run, Liverpool are still unbeaten at
home, having won 5 and drawn 3. They drew their last home
against lowly Sunderland. They aslo have one of the best
defensive records in the league, having conceded only 5
goals at home. Man Utd will be extremly confident going
into this game, however their away record is not the best
at present. They have only won once all season away and
drawn 4. This is a fierce derby, and Man Utd will be missing
thier more experienced players who they will need for this
type of game. Beckham, Keane, Neville, Butt and Ferdinand
are all definitelty out of this game while Laurent Blanc
is a doubt. This means that Man Utd may have to rely on
young Wes brown, and this will be a huge pressure on his
head at the centre of defence. These games are always tight,
and Liverpool will have to keep Van Nistelrooy out of the
game. Due to the injuries and lack of 'derby' experience
in the Man Utd team I have settled for a draw. Medium stake.
