WE’VE been focusing on the Scandinavian leagues over the
summer, but now it’s time to put Europe’s major leagues
under the spotlight. In Germany, Bayern Mu-inch get things started
in a Friday night game early next month.
Fehr Magath’s side should start with a win at home to strugglers
Munchengladbach and look banker material to follow up last season’s
runaway title win.
On the Index, the difference between Bayern’s rating and
the chasing pack is greater than the difference between Chelsea’s
rating and that of either Arsenal or Man United -just as Chelsea
look good things in the Premiership, so too do Bayern in the Bundesliga.
However as the German champions are trading at around 5-6, it’s
not going to be a life-changing bet. Further down, things are
far more interesting. There is little to choose between the next
half-dozen sides.
Schalke, Werder Bremen, Hertha Berlin, Stuttgart,
Bayer Leverku~en and Bormsia Dortmi.md are separated by a tiny
spread of nine Index points, and there were just eight points
between second and Seventh place in the final league table.
