With the World Cup finally finished all eyes will now look towards the start of the domestic season as managers try to wheel and deal with clubs to lure players for the up-and-coming season and the Premier League looks to be a wide-open affair.

Reigning champions Chelsea are currently 13/8 favourites with Paddy Power and will certainly be the team to beat but have been fairly dormant in the transfer market.

Carlo Ancelloti has lost the likes of Michael Ballack and Joe Cole who will be out of the door come August and has yet to really fill those voids but with still three weeks to go the Blues should bring in some new blood to Stamford Bridge.

Even with those departures they still will be a force to be reckoned with and should take all the beating. Manchester United are best-priced 11/4 with Victor Chandler to lift the trophy but they also have been devoid of activity in bringing new players in. Their season will yet again rest on star striker Wayne Rooney who was a goal-scoring revelation last season and although the England striker had a poor World Cup, he should still be in the goals for the Red Devils this season.

At the moment, Sir Alex Ferguson’s squad lacks the strength in depth and if there are no new arrivals at Old Trafford then they could be one to avoid.

Manchester City seem to have an open purse in the way of funds to bring new players in and Roberto Mancini has already brought in the classy David Silva and Yaya Toure to Eastlands. They are 5/1 with VcBet for the Premiership crown but they still have yet bolster their defence sufficiently and could struggle to live with Chelsea.

Arsene Wenger has been under scrutiny at Arsenal for the last few years after not bringing silverware to the North London outfit and they are 7/1 to finally regain the title. The Gunners are the most aesthetically pleasing side when on form but in recent years have been lacklustre against the smaller clubs and will probably have to settle for minor honours again.

Of the others, Liverpool at 16/1 with Stan James is far too short for a club who have been on the decline for the last few years and Tottenham Hotspur who at 40/1 with Bet365 offer much more value than the Reds.

Harry Redknapp’s side were brilliant last season but will struggle to repeat that fourth place this year and have to settle for a Europa League spot. At 13/8 Chelsea are a bit on the short side but the firepower at Ancelotti’s disposal should give him the edge and bag consecutive titles.

Other markets that appeal is the Golden Boot and Didier Drogba at 6/1 with Paddy Power is the stand-out bet but watch out for Emmanuel Adebayor at 33/1 with Coral and is a decent each-way shout.

Wigan had a poor season last year and they may struggle again this year and Bet365′s 9/4 for the Latics to get relegated is an eye-catching price.
