Well, Clive Woodward has finally brought in the changes, for me a game to late. The Lions were humiliated last week 21-3, and there are eleven changes to that team to face New Zealand in the 2nd Test in Wellington on Saturday (live In-Play betting available).
It would be a big turnaround if they could snatch a win, but I think this game is too soon after their brutal encounter last week. The Lions are of 9/2 to win – they were 7/2 to win the Christchurch match.
An interesting note, though is in the handicap markets, where the Lions have been given a 14.5 point head start. For me this looks a little long, and I think this is a great bet at (10/11).
Sir Clive Woodward looks to have selected a more balanced and aggressive side, and the Welsh duo of Gavin Henson and Shane Williams can make an impact. Williams has already shown what he can do against the All Blacks in the World Cup, and he could be the inspiration today if they can get the ball to him.
The old faces have been replaced by younger and more athletic players, especially in the back row, and this looks like positive change for the better. Wilkinson is back at outside half and should provide some stability behind the scrum. Of course, if the Lions lose then the Series will be over, and so this is a must win for them today. I think they will come up short, but the game should be closer this time around, and 14.5 points is a great start for them, and should be snapped up.
