I am very happy with 7/2 for Valixir. he's a proven group 1
horse, he's beaten Rakti (who admittedly played up before
the race) and has run some very fast times.
Divine Proportions price of 4/6 is a joke. Imagine what
Valixir would have done to the field in the prix d'astarte
last time out. Any half decent animal would have slaughtered
that field.
This was the first time DP had gone against older fillies,
they weren't exactly world beaters though (the second placed
shapira's previous best rpr was 106) She was still good
enough though to beat the likes of gorella and toupie which
degrades the 3yo form somewhat.
I reckon Valixir would have been equally if not more
impressive.
Ok divine proportions is unbeaten and has some impressive
wins but I'd take her on at 4/6 all day long with a horse
with proven grouop 1 form against the older horses.
bestmate it is rare for 3yos who have been actively
campaigned to produce their best form so late in the
season,Sir Noel Murless once said that with the great
majority of horses if you tran them for the Guineas the
latest they can still be at their peak is the St Leger, that
is why you get so many great horses turned over at the end
of their 3yo campaigns.
