The favourites for this years Presidents cup are not surprisingly the United States, who are a pretty short  4/7 to win. Of course they are playing on home soil, but there are plenty of reasons to avoid them this time around around. Tiger Woods has been on what can only be described as a break, as his last full competitive tournament was finishing way down the field in 40th place in the Deutsche Bank Championship.

Another point is that Phil Mickelson, who doesn't seem to enjoy these types of events finished well off the pace in the recent 84 Lumber Classic. Unfortunately, one of the the US's better players David Toms is not in the best of health and has been regularly visiting the hospital, and so he will not be 100% focused on this.

US Captain certainly has a headache - on paper, the US team is abetter outfit than the Internationals, if we take rankings into account, but there are many outside factors that could influence the result here, and so the value bet is to go with the Internationals at 11/8.

If you would rather take a bet on the Texas Open, then we can adopt a similar tactic here as many of the big favourites are not in the best of form. Chad Campbell is the favourite at a touch over 20/1, but he has only had one top ten finish since April. Home grown Texan talent does seem to do well here, and so our main pick is JJ Henry.

Henry has two top five finishes in four years here, and after just celebrating his thirtieth birthday, he will be in a great frame of mind coming into this. At 66/1 he is a huge price and offers much more appeal than the shorter priced, more well known golfers..

Recommendations: Presidents Cup - Internationals @ 11/8; Texas Open J J Henry @ 66/1
