Britain's most popular one mile race, the Queen Elizabeth Stakes is back this weekend. Dubawi at 7/4 looks to be the bookies favourite for this one and there is no doubt that he has all the credentials to go very close here today.

We are going to sidestep Dubawi this time around however, as he has only really impressed when sprinting clear from rivals off a slow pace as seen in the Prix Marois and Irish 2,000 and he struggled in the English 2,000 off a decent pace, where he looked all at sea.

The rain will suit the Godolphin horse, as seen in the Irish Guineas, but there is not that much rain forecast between now and raceday, and I would be very worried about Dubawi on anything other than softish going, particularly at Newmarket.

Due to these doubts over the market leader, we like the look of  Starcraft at 9/4. This horse from down under has proved his credentials when destroying the field in the  Group 1 Prix du Moulin at Longchamp at the beginning of September.

The horse should go very close, as the Newmarket rise should suit his tactics, and he can take advantage of this by pulling clear of the field.

For those of you who prefer to give the QE Stakes a miss, there's an attractive jumps card at Market Rasen this Saturday also. Jonjo O'Neil' horse Iris's Gift looks like a likely winner in the 2.45. The eight year old has already been heavily baked in the Gold Cup to 20/1 and is a top class chaser. He should be the one to beat.

Recommendation: Queen Elizabeth II Stakes Starcraft @ 9/4
