Guide to Ryanair Chase Cheltenham Festival

Poquelin produced an immaculate round of jumping when beating Great Endeavour in the Vote A.P Gold Cup Chase at Cheltenham in December and Paul Nicholls's eight-year-old has been put in as 9/2 favourite for this year's Ryanair Chase.

He has been a regular runner in these types of races having failed to make the step up to top class and he was a gallant second in this race last year behind Albertas Run (12/1 various).

Albertas Run has had a chequered season this year when falling upsides Master Minded in the Tingle Creek and then disappointing in the King George and is one to let go.

Somersby (7/1 various) is likely to head towards the Queen Mother Champion Chase after running Master Minded so close in the Victor Chandler Chase and is another to avoid.

Tranquil Sea (8/1 Sporting Bet) finished a disappointing ninth behind Albertas Run in last year's Ryanair but has shown some good form in his last two races beating Let Yourself Go and J'y Vole (16/1 various) and is one to watch out for.

One interesting double-figured price runner is Riverside Theatre, who at 14/1 could be the each way steal. He finished a staying-on second behind Long Run in the King George and with connections likely to bypass the Gold Cup for this contest could be over-priced.

He failed to do himself justice in last year's Arkle but having been upped in trip of late he has solid claims and could be the main danger to ante-post favourite Poquelin.
