Soccer: Premiership Sack Race

As much as I dont like to discuss people being given the boot, once again punters are eying the demise of certain Premiership managers. There are managers that it could be said are'safe', but there are those that, if a few results dont go their way, may be looking over their shoulders.

After all, Premiership chairmen dont hold alot of patience these days, and they soon get itchy when the home loss comes in a little bit too often. Looking at the table, Man City do stand out at some value. The departure of Shaun Wright Phillips does spell a bit of danger for Man City this season. Remember, they did finish an impressive eighth in the league, but this was mainly due to the performances of Anelka (now gone) and Wright Phillips. Who is going to bag 20 goals a season? Robbie Fowler looks a little passed it to be able to compete at Premiership standards now, and there is little left up front for the Citizens.

At the time of writing, I haven't seen any big money signings brought in, to fill the gaps that these two influential players have left. And without them, who is going to score the goals?

Of course, lets not forget their massive debts of £68 million, and so bolstering the squad is just not something they can do. If there's no money to spend, I can see a long hard season for the men in blue.

If we go by this, current manager Stuart Pearce may be worthy of the first to be given the boot. He has done an excellent job so far, and had a great run at the end of last season, but in reality without the money behind him, these days teams struggle.

Pearce is 14/1 for  the first Premiership manager to lose his job and there is some definite value in the 10/1 call for City to finish in the bottom three - that may look a big price come Christmas.

Recommendation: Man City to be relegated next season @ 10/1
