Horse Racing: Skybet Chase & Cleve Hurdle

Fire And Rain looks the scopiest of their lesser exposed types so far. However for me the Dewhurst received a massive boost from Palace Episode. Horatio has never been value but along with George will be the 2 best from the stable imo and could both stay fuirther. Sir Percy and Horatio both in the Derby? The Dewhurst has produced Dr Devious and a n other (forget) in recent years and the race this year looked by far the best trial.

It is along time since the Dewhurst produced a Derby winner. Recent Derby winners have not had the speed to win a top class 7furlong race. When Generous won the Dewhurst the ground was soft ( stamina required ) H. Nelson and Sir Percy are bred along similar lines to some Derby winners i.e. Oath, Dr Devious, North Light , were they have a speed influence Sire and a dam withs lots of stamina, but Sir Percy and H.Nelson are not sure to stay, although they have class.
That is why i suggested the French Derby 1mile 2furlongs.Can't wait to see him in a couple of weeks to see how he has got over last years mishaps. Only last week did i see a full replay of Kicking kings Gold cup for the first time, and i thought he appeared legless up the run-in. This may be his style, as he did the same at Kempton, but i believe that if Best mate had made it in top form last year, he would have murdered him. And if Best Mate comes back to his best this season, theres every chance he is massively underated this year. We'll soon see

Have loved watching this horse throughout his career. Rarely have I seen such an economical jumper, such a smooth traveller. Backed him to win each of his Gold Cups and been thrilled every time.
That said, it seems inevitable that he is on the decline and I have a horrible feeling that he'll bleed again during the Exeter race and be retired forthwith. I really hope I am wrong as it'd be great to see him against KK in March 06. Would have been better if he'd have been there this year as a year younger horse taking on the unproven upstart..............not saying he'd have won but it would have been a race worth going a long way to see!
