The `big` boys are majorly unprepared for this comp. They won't be playing again till October so this tournament comes as a minor annoyance to their summer break, an interuption to their poker games.
So the best best this week is go against the top boys. I think the winner out of Carter or Ding will beat Hendry, and possibly go all the way. Mcguire will beat Willams fairly easily too imo...
The only way a top player will win this is if they play themself into form. I've seen Williams do that before, but I doubt he will, with the short match format.

I think Doherty will be up for it and will beat Stevens looking forward to the start of the snooker season proper.Stevens is notoriously slow to find form nowadays as is the case with Williams. Both should be avoided like the plague in this event. Hendry has great pride and will probably play to a reasonable level.
Obviously 7 frame matches are a lottery but the hungry players will always do well at the start of the season.
I reckon Ding, Maguire and Robertson are the men to beat in N.Ireland this week
