Soccer: Scottish Premier League
Well, the Scots have to be different, and they start
their football league campaign this weekend. As usual there
are no surprises at the top of the betting, however Celtic
have been eased somewhat following their 5-0 demolition in
Europe.
Of course, I would expect the top two to be Celtic
-Rangers, in what order finish is up to anyone, so it may be
worth a look as to who will finish third. Hearts look a nice
bet at 9/4 in the SPL 'Without Celtic & Rangers'
betting. they are matched at 9/4 with Aberdeen.
The season previous , Aberdeen finished eleven points
clear of their rivals on respectable sixty one
points.. However, since then, Hearts have been boosted by
the arrival of ex Derby and Ipswich manager George Burley,
and he looks like a shrewd appointment. Together with
several new signings, they are widely tipped to mount a
serious challenge for a UEFA spot this season. Our advice is
to leave the big two of Celtic and Rangers alone, and go
with George Burleys hearts to claim the third spot.
Recommendation: Hearts to win the SPL 2005/06
'Without Celtic & Rangers' @ 9/4
Celtic will be celebrating the arrival of Japanese
International Shunsuke Nakamura, who looks to be a decent
signing and should be the man for the corners and free
kicks. However, Gordon Strachan does have his work cut out
after a humiliating 5-0 defeat in the Champions League, and
after the success of Martin O'Neil, the team does have alot
of bonding and rebuilding of confidence.
One popular market is for Shunsuke Nakamura to score
more goals than David Beckham this season from free kicks.
The Japanese player is evens to score more and this looks a
nice fun bet. Rangers look a good bet to dominate Livingston
on the opening day fixtures. Livingston were
thrashed 3-0 by Rangers in January, and again 4-1 in
November, so the 8/13 offered on them to win by more than
two goals looks like an attractive bet, and does have some
appeal.
Shunsuke Nakamura to score more league goals than David
Beckham @ Evens
Recommendation: Rangers to beat Livingston by 2 or
more goals @ 8/13
