The draw for this Friday's semi-finals of the Springbok
has thrown together two of the best dogs in the competition,
with our antepost favourite Druids Mickey Jo (9/4) and market
rival Greenacre Tom (3/1) running from traps four and three
respectively in the opening semi. The draw for this race could
be crucial, with Druids Mickey Jo very much at home in the
middle and, with Greenacre Tom to his left, he should have
plenty of room to make the front early doors and put the race
beyond doubt.
Tom is always vulnerable away from his favoured red box,
and if he runs into the expected trouble, the way could be
left clear for outsider Musgrave Ozzie (T6) to clinch the
second qualifying spot. If he does, our current outright price
of 33/1 will look massive! The final of this race (9.45) will
be the highlight of an 8-race televised (SS2) card next Tuesday
night, and anyone clever enough to back a winner at 2/1 or
bigger in any of the televised races on the night, can look
forward to a free bet to the same stake (up to £100) on the
