Ashley Brook imo is v good and could be v good indeed. I think as we type that k king is the banker of the meeting, silly sentiment in june i know but as i say"as we type". However i do not see thta much unexposed non injury prone top notchers coming through and i think this one is a live outsider given improvement through the season. i don't know his price elsewhere i believe about 28s on here. That would be to short given we do not know the target however i would have some 40s if available.

It will be facinating to see how near some of these 'shots in the dark' actually get come the middle of March.

For me at the minute, the Champion Hurdle could be another epic, will a whole raft of novices coming at the Irish stranglehold. Can anyone of Akilak, Penzance, Mighty Man, Faasel or Arcalis step up to the required level? Well I've personally have a little feeling for another of last season's novices: Lucy Wadham's United.

United absoutlely laughed at both Akilak and Strangely Brown at Punchestown, a performance that I think has been rather under-rated by some and have taken a small amount of the 40's available. It remains to be seen if Miss Wadham has the ability to house a top class horse, I believe she can and am hopful of a good season from this animal. As for other races, it will take a very convincing argument from someone to disuade me from backing Inglis Drever for the stayers, huge fan of this horse, although I wonder whether they may run No Refuge if his season starts better and run ID in the Aintree Hurdle which was his intended target throughout the whole of last campaign. The biggest disappointment is the host of negative prices put up by all bookmakers for 2006 - I know they may have been filled in a little in the last 2 years, but must have had plenty of non runners to compensate, and have "bottled it" in a big way this time around.

If they are scared of offering value with 12 months to go, then god help us... as the name suggests, I love delving in and having a go, and have had a success or two to make up for the errors, but this time around I am struggling to have a go.

I am itching to take 10-1 about Rhinestone Cowboy for the Stayers' but we need to see he's back in one piece, and then there's guessing where that annoying imp will run him if he proves he is still good. That performance over Iris Gift at Punchestown, with a poor round of jumping, makes me think 10-1 is massive e-w value. If he lines up he would be impossible to keep out of the frame.
