Socccer : Weekend Premiership Football Tips

It can only get worse for Newcastle boss Graham Souness this weekend as Alex Ferguson brings his Manchester Utd side to to Tyneside. The Magpies were booed off the pitch last week after playing out a dull goaless draw with promoted West Ham, who were down to ten men for the last half hour. Newcastle also suffered a 2-0 away defeat to Bolton and it is plain to see that they are desperate for some some support for the aging Shearer. Michael Owen may be on his way but he can't come quickly enough, as Newcastle were very disappointing.

Man Utd won their second game in a row against Aston Villa last week, and had an easy run out midweek in the Champions League, winning 3-0. They looked very impressive, with Ryan Giggs causing havoc down the left hand wing. Newcastle have yet to score this season and Man Utd have yet to concede, and so it does look like a win to nothing for Manchester. The Red devils will be without Gary Neville, who pulled a groin muscle midweek, but they should have too much for a struggling Newcastle side. Go for a big one this week, Man Utd to win 3-0 at a huge 12/1.

Recommendation: Man Utd away win @ 10/11; Man Utd to win 3-0 @ 12/1

If we turn our attention to the other games, Bolton look a nice little bet to win away at West Ham @ 7/4. They were impressive midweek, disposing of Newcastle 2-0 and they should be too strong for the Hammers. West Brom can defeat Birmingham in the first Brummie derby of the season. Birmingham have struggled so far this season, losing 3-0 midweek to Middlesbrough in a morale sapping game. The Baggies look a little more spirited an lively at the moment, and @ 13/10 they are the pick.

Man City are now unbeaten in eleven games under Stuart Pearce to 11 games, and won away impressively midweek against Sunderland 2-1. They can overcome a disappointing Portsmouth side, who already look good relegation candidates.

Recommendation: Bolton to beat West Ham @ 7/4;West Brom to beat Birmingham @ 13/10;Man City to beat Portsmouth @ 8/13
