Aston Villa suffered an opening day defeat at the hands of West Bromwich Albion and new manager Paul Lambert will be hoping for a better showing from his side on what will be his first home league match in charge.
The Villa faithful have had to suffer plenty of negativity last season under former boss Alex McLeish and his dire defensive tactics.
Lambert will need to bring a bit more verve to Villa Park but it won’t be easy against an Everton side that toppled Manchester United on Monday night at Goodison Park.
David Moyes’ power-packed side took full advantage of United’s weakness in defence and grabbed the winner in that 1-0 victory courtesy of the quite brilliant Marouane Fellaini.

He was almost unplayable, even up against United’s top defender Nemanja Vidic, and the Villa back four will need to be at their best to dampen the threat of the giant Belgian.
Plenty of punters are expected Everton to dominate however, and have been backed to win the game. The early 7/4 with Paddy Power has now gone but the 6/4 available still represents decent value for a side who are predicted to challenge for a top six spot this season.
Meanwhile Villa fans fear the worst for the season after last weekend’s flat showing against West Ham. With no major transfers coming into Villa Park during the summer the emphasis and responsibility will once again fall onto the shoulders of striker Darren Bent, and if he should become injured, it could be catastrophic for the Villains Premiership survival hopes.
Just staying in the Premiership for another season should be the aim for Lambert in his first season in charge, and he would love to kick-off his home tenure with a win, which can be backed at 19/10 (Bet365).
The draw is a 12/5 poke.
A trend to keep an eye on in this game is that Everton’s set-piece specialist Leighton Baines has scored a penalty in two of the last three games against Villa.
He is a fruitful looking 20/1 (Paddy Power) to open the scoring and a huge 8/1 (Paddy Power) to score at any time.
